Welcome to Vom
Windywoods Rottweilers, my name
is Andy Larrimore. My interest in the Rottweiler began when I was a teenager. In 1996 I
went into the United States Marine Corps. My
first duty station was the USS Nimitz
(CVN 68). While being out to sea my wife would send me books and magazines about
Rottweilers and dog training. In
1997 I received new orders and went to the Marine
Corps Anti-Terrorism Team located in Yorktown,
Virginia. Now that I was no longer stationed on a ship I purchased my first Rottweiler. I then met Brad Churchill who was a Navy
K9 handler/trainer on the base. We became friends and started training dogs
together. He taught me about the different drives of dogs and taught me how
to decoy. I learned to teach basic and advanced obedience, tracking, detection,
building search, and bite work. I gained a wealth of knowledge from him. In April of 2000 I
departed the Marine Corps as a
sergeant and moved back to Maryland. In
July of 2000 I began my law enforcement
career. Shortly there after I
began to look for another Rottweiler for myself. I looked at several litters and saw some beautiful puppies but they lacked the working temperament. I realized that most people were breeding only for conformation and not work. I then had a friend import a Hungarian
Rottweiler for me (Rott-Berger Xena). I
got her as a young puppy. She was a beautiful Rottweiler with great drives. After seeing the difference in
this puppy and the others I had looked at it was clear, Windywoods K9 would not only be about training dogs, but about
producing a Rottweiler with strong drives and the overall working temperament.
This is when our breeding program, Vom
Windywoods Rottweilers was started.
We pride ourselves on producing the true Rottweiler. I currently serve as
a police K9 handler utilizing a Rottweiler
that is certified in patrol and narcotics detection. I have also become a certified
police K9 instructor and have been recognized as an expert witness in court
for K9. I am a member of the North American Police Work Dog
Association and the National Law Enforcement Canine Organization.
I was recently accepted as a certifying official for the National Law Enforcement Canine Organization. Feel
free to contact me or come check us out and you too will see the difference. Andy Larrimore (410) 829-0332 wwk9@atlanticbb.net
