Welcome to Vom Windywoods Rottweilers, my name is Andy Larrimore. My interest in the Rottweiler began when
I was a teenager. In 1996 I went into the United States Marine Corps. I received orders and went to the Marine Corps Anti-Terrorism
Team located in Yorktown, Virginia. It was here that I purchased my first Rottweiler. I met a canine handler/trainer on the
base and we started training dogs together. He taught me about the different drives of dogs and how to decoy. I gained a wealth
of knowledge from him. In April of 2000 I departed the Marine Corps as a sergeant and moved back to Maryland. In July of 2000
I began my law enforcement career. Shortly there after, I began to look for another Rottweiler for myself. I looked at several
litters over a long period of time. I saw some beautiful puppies but they lacked the true temperament of the breed. I realized
that most people were breeding only for conformation and not temperament. I then got a Rottweiler puppy from Europe. She was
a beautiful Rottweiler with a great temperament. After seeing the difference in this puppy and the others I had looked at
it was clear, Vom Windywoods Rottweilers would be about combining temperament and conformation to produce the true Rottweiler.
We have been involved not only with breeding Rottweilers but also training them. I currently utilize a Rottweiler in my job
as a police canine handler. I have trained him in narcotics detection and patrol work. I have certified him multiple
times through the North American Police Work Dog Association, National Law Enforcement Canine Organization and the International
Police Work Dog Association. On top of training dogs for police work, I have trained dogs for basic obedience, tracking, estate
/ personal protection and herding. You can read my interview about using the Rottweiler as a police dog in the April 2013
edition of the Total Rottweiler Magazine. We are confident in our ability to breed and produce the True Rottweiler. We only
breed European lines and produce only one to two quality litters per year. All of our litters are supplemented three times
daily with a bottle until they are weaned. These supplemental feedings help develop a confident puppy that is use to being
handled from birth. It also helps ensure that each puppy is getting enough to eat and is growing healthy. Each puppy is raised
with love and care. Feel free to contact me or visit us and you too will see the difference.
